Board Members
Session One: "Write the Vision, Make it Plain"
An interactive vision planning & goal setting workshop to help you take action to achieve your goals.
Casting vision and setting clearly defined goals for one’s life is powerful. In this workshop students learn how to set realistic goals, how to transform their visions and goals into reality, and develop an action plan to achieve the goals they have set.
Session Two: "Discover the Leader Within You"
Are you a Servant, Autocratic, or Transformational Leader?
This interactive workshop is designed to provide you with an opportunity to learn the qualities of a great leader; learn the various types of distinct leadership styles, discover who you are as a leader; and learn how to develop the leader that resides within you.
Session Three: "STAY Ready--Don't GET Ready"
Get the tools, tips & techniques from professionals and entrepreneurs to help sharpen practical skills to prepare for your success in your career journey.
The foundation of this seminar is workplace & career preparation. Whether preparing for a 9-5 or the journey of entrepreneurship, this session highlights and sharpens the practical skills needed to be successful in both.
Session Four: "Secure and Keep the BAG!"
Learn how to become financially fit in College and in Life.
There is more to paying for college than tuition, room & board. In this workshop, students are given the tools to become fiscally responsible while being independent in college. Students will be given tools and learn to apply critical financial management skills through the principles of budgeting and other steps that lead to financial independence.
NETWORKING & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Mentees will also be able to participate in volunteer and networking opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- First-generation student (freshman year through senior year of college)
- Students must be able to attend scheduled group sessions
- Students must complete a program application.
- If accepted into the program, students must pay the $35 program fee.

The responsibilities of the mentee include:
- Taking full responsibility for her/his academic, career, and life success.
- Participating in mentorship activities such as orientation, open house, and program evaluation.
- Reaching out to the mentor and cultivating the development and maintenance of the mentor-mentee relationship.
- Remaining open to the need for mentorship and development.
- Making time for, initiating, and attending regular meetings with the mentor at least once a month.
- Establishing short and long-term goals and discussing and updating the mentor on your progress.
- Authentically striving for academic and life excellence.
- Maintaining parameters of confidentiality jointly agreed upon by the mentor and mentee at the initiation of the relationship.
Role of the Mentor
The responsibilities of the mentor include:
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree (for college student mentors). High school student mentors must have some type of post-secondary education (i.e. career certificate, Associates Degree, etc.).
- Being a trusted friend and advocate who provide advice, wise counsel, and access to mentees.
- A commitment for one academic year (those mentoring high school seniors, a two year commitment is needed to assist the student with their transition as a first-year student in college).
- Participating in mentorship activities such as orientation, kickoff session, program evaluation and culminating event. These are virtual events.
- Developing and maintaining a relationship with the mentee.
- Making time for, initiating, and holding meetings with the mentee at least once a month.
- Reviewing and assist with developing short and long-term goals with the mentee and monitors progress toward these goals.
- Providing guidance, information, and feedback to mentees relative to college applications, scholarship applications, networking, and employment opportunities.
- Guiding the mentee in setting priorities, managing their time, and making wise choices among options and opportunities.
- Serves as a cheerleader and advocate, providing the mentee with encouragement and support.
- Maintains parameters of confidentiality jointly agreed upon by the mentor and mentee at the initiation of relationship and adhere to The 2Gethers Foundation’s Code of Conduct.
